Where has this been all my life? Alright, it was just released, but still. The Zuvi Halo has entered the market with a lot of buzz and I am excited to share my opinion with you all!

Please note: The Halo hairdryer was sent to me by Zuvi, but I was not asked to write this blog post and all opinions are my own. I collaborated with them on a Youtube video review, you can watch that here, if you want to see how I use it.

Why is the Zuvi Halo so special?

Don’t be fooled by the looks of this hairdryer – it’s more than just another very fancy, high end hairdryer. And that becomes clear once you turn it on. The technology behind the Zuvi Halo is absolutely fascinating (and very impressive)! It is created with nature in mind and wants to mimic the way your hair would air dry outside in the morning sun, just faster. It dries your hair using light and air, rather than the high heat of regular hairdryers. Full honesty here – I initially thought it sounded a bit… not possible? But alas, I am not a scientist and can only say the proof is in the pudding: my hair has never felt this soft, smooth and healthy!

Did my hair just change texture or what?

The biggest difference for me has been the frizz reduction of my hair. To get anywhere the same result as I do with the Zuvi Halo, I would use lots of serums and leave in products and blow dry my hair with two different hair dryers and sometimes go over it with a straightening iron. Which I would avoid doing, because the damage that routine causes my hair is just not worth it. If I just dried it with my old hairdryer, it would feel much more rough and “poofy” – now I realize that is because my hair was completely dried out. The Zuvi Halo does not dry out your hair completely through the core of the strand, which means the hair will retain much more moisture (aka, scoring major hair health points). It genuinely feels like my hair has changed texture, which is wild. I would say I have cut my product usage with at least 75%.
I have only used the Zuvi for a few weeks, I can’t wait to see the long term benefits of only using this to dry my hair.

What else? Oh, so much else!

Apart from the results, this is a seriously enjoyable hairdryer to use. There is so much of the technology being talked about (and rightfully so), the other great things about the Zuvi Halo can easily take a back seat. It is not just gentle on your hair, this feels so gentle to use. It is super light, weighing in at under 550g, which I think is fantastic, especially for everyone who struggles with shoulder aches when drying their hair (me included). It is also the most silent hairdryer I have ever used, which is so appreciated and will surely be a huge relief for both children and highly sensitive people (me also included, again). I mean, I can have a conversation without even raising my voice when I use the Zuvi Halo.

It has a very comfortable grip as well, and absolutely no part of the hairdryer has gotten uncomfortably hot to touch. This is also so apparent when I use the attachments as they are never hot to the touch when I take them off after use. My previous hairdryer has several “do not touch” zones I learned through trial and burns (ouchie!).

And speaking of the attachments, they are all magnetic, fool proof to use and the gentle air attachment is my favorite thing ever and is far more impactful than it looks. My sensitive scalp is so thankful for this little add on that I would probably get this hairdryer for that feature alone. If I were to pack light, I would always bring that one, no matter what. Again, this is going to be such a relief for children, sensitive people and everyone who struggles with a sensitive scalp.

What’s not to love?

This is absolutely the most expensive hairdryer I have owned and it is a splurge purchase for sure. My previous hairdryer was also in the triple digits, but I get that sticker shock can come into play if you have only used $20 hairdryers. However, I would purchase it immediately should I end up losing min. I spend a lot of money on my hair care and no single product has made such a big difference as the Zuvi Halo, so for me and my hair type, this is absolutely worth the money.

I will also note that the cord length is 6 ft / 1.8m, which is perfect for my home, but could be on the shorter end depending on your own setup. However, they also make a longer version that is 10 ft / 3m (and at the same price), so I would look into that instead if you think that will be an issue for you!

I will also say, as a caveat, that this has worked wonderfully for my hair type and texture, which is very fine and with a veeery slight wave to it. Because my hair is so long, I don’t curl it at the moment, and I would never ever try to curl it with any hairdryer at this length. However, part of what makes the Zuvi Halo so much better for your hair is obviously that it does not get as hot as regular hairdryers. Therefore, I don’t know how well it would fare to create curl or straighten very curly hair. That’s not something I have tried (although it created a gorgeous wave with the diffuser – ugh I can’t wait to use this on repeat as soon as I get a chop).

Environmental impacts

If you saw my video review, you will know how much I appreciate the team at Zuvi for not just making key feature and settling for that. They have taken the environment into consideration as the Halo hairdryer consumes 60% less electricity than regular hairdryers.

The Zuvi Halo feels unique in far more than one aspect. I am so excited to see the hype around this product and I am low-key hoping we will get more products from Zuvi in the future, as I always appreciate companies that strive to make something truly new and innovative. It would be a mistake to think of the Zuvi Halo as just another high end hairdryer, as it is so very different from everything else on the market. And we love to see it!

Again, if you want to see this in action, I did a Youtube review of it, which you can watch below.

UPDATE OCTOBER 2022: I wanted to update this blog post as I have used the Zuvi Halo for a bit longer now. And my update is that I have not picked up any other hairdryer since. I absolutely love it. I have cut my hair and rely on my hairdryer to give me a little shape when styling my hair now and it does a superb job. It is just so easy to use, it’s light weight (making the styling process a breeze!) and I genuinely use a lot less frizz control hair products now. I am a fan!
