Today I want to look at the top 12 fall trends which I think would be worth your money. And by that, I mean, I think almost all of these trends will be flattering on most people, they are relatively easy to style and fit into the wardrobe and the go-to outfits you already have. And they also don’t really scream “you bought this in 2019”, as in, apart from a few of them, I think these trends lean towards the classic, meaning you will get more than a season wear out of them.

I won’t go too much into how I’d style them in this video as it would just be too long, but I can definitely do that in another. And I’ll link some different buying options in the description box, in case you are interested in that. So, since we have quite a few to go through, let’s just start!

Leather

First up is one I am super excited about, and that is leather. Leather is really prominent this season, and not just in your typical leather jacket. Especially leather trousers have been very popular, as well as other outerwear. My favourites however, are the leather skirt and the leather blazer dress. If you are into color, several designers also showed colorful leather items, especially in orange and deeper jewel tones. And seeing this trend meant I finally got it together and got a leather skirt. I am never going back.

Belted blazer

There are lots in shops now that come with a matching belt, the wide ones seem to be very popular. Or you can also just use a belt of your own.

Chain chokers

Do I need to say much for this one? We all love them, we all have one, and you have definitely seen someone wear one recently. I am obsessed and will have to cut this short for fear of exciting myself so much I accidentally order 12 more. Oopsie.

Check print

Extra style points if you wear a two piece matching set in the print. I will probably stick to just one at a time for ease of wear.

Dark florals

A trend I am super excited about, it is just so beautiful and feminine. I have already seen lots and lots of this trend, in all kinds of pieces; dresses, blouses, accessories, trousers, anything!

knit on knit

One trend that may feel odd to mention when it comes to fall trends, is knitwear. Okay, we all live in knit for fall and winter, I get that. What’s different now, however, is that we are apparently wearing knit on top of knit on top of knit. So go as knit happy as you want, layer a sweater on top of a dress, or even on top of another sweater – there are no rules this season!

Daylight disco

I will admit, this one of the more difficult trends to pull off/call wearable, but I included it because it is also one of the most awesome, in my opinion. And the idea here is to add metallics and even sequins into your wardrobe, even for daytime.

If you want to ease into it, small accessories are a good way to start. Bags, or especially shoes have been really popular in a silver metallic colour. I am also really excited to add some metallic outerwear, for a real statement. Currently I have this flowy, metallic skirt which is a really good transition piece which really dresses up a white t shirt or looks great with a lace top for something more fancy.

Headbands

I already made a video discussing trendy hair accessories, but I have to mention headbands, as they are so incredibly popular and also probably the easiest and most affordable way to be on trend right now. I am loving my simple, velvet one!

Platform boots

One trend that I am absolutely obsessed with now, is platform boots. I am only so terribly sad that I have had issues with my shins lately, so I would never be allowed by my physiotherapist to wear anywhere near as heavy of a shoe as this. I’m sobbing. But you please wear them. And think of me.

Puff sleeve

The puffy sleeves have been really popular this spring and summer, but more in the milk maid style. Now it has upgraded as a contrasting element to more structured pieces. This trend has been growing in popularity, and it seems to be migrating into knitwear and outerwear as well, so you can really pick and choose. I have stuck with more simple, affordable pieces because I’m not totally sure I am crazy about it yet.

Tights

Another huge trend right now would be tights. Monogram tights have already been quite popular for a while, but now the trend really has come in all varieties. And I really love a trend that is so customisable to so many different styles. The most featured ones would be patterned and also colorful ones. I am leaning towards the slightly more simple, I especially love lace ones!

Dark lace details

Finally, I want to mention how incredibly hot lace details have been – large or small, they are all welcome! I love having small lace details on my tops, as they are still office appropriate, but a bit more fun that just plain blouses.
