A foaming cleanser for dry skin promising radiance and purified skin? Well, almost…

I had been wanting to try this cleanser for a while when I got it as a free gift with purchase in a Cultbeauty Goodybag. My skin can be prone to blackheads and breakouts, so a cleanser that promised glow and removing impurities without being drying definitely sounded like something right up my alley. I have seen lots of great reviews so I was really excited to get to test this one myself.

To achieve this radiant finish, the cleanser has a blend of alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic and lactic acid) and fruit enzymes which give a gentle exfoliating effect. I have to say, for a product that is a cleanser and not an exfoliator, I was pleasantly surprised at how well it softened certain dry spots on my skin. While it can’t beat a proper mask or peel, it’s certainly not bad.

Is this for dry skin?

I tend to have dry and dehydrated skin and even though this is marketed as helping dry skin, it’s not as moisturizing as, say, my Cerave Hydrating cleanser. But seeing as this cleanser is foaming and also exfoliating, I really don’t think it was drying at all. It would be too much for my dry and sensitive skin to use this morning and night, but I have been using it at night, 3-4 nights a week, and it has been great.

I have the two pictures above to show the texture of this product. As you can see, it is a bit gritty. Once you massage that into the skin, though, it’s impossible to feel it. It just feels very smooth, it’s not like a physical exfoliant at all. It has a slight mint green tint and it does have a scent. However, as it is a wash off product, I have not had an issue with the scent lingering. It is really lovely to use, it foams up well and rinses off easily. I am really happy that despite having somewhat sensitive skin as well, and I have not had any excessive irritation with this. I once used it morning, night and morning and then experienced a little redness, so I went back to using it only at night and every other day.

Is it purifying?

I don’t think it has necessarily done much for my impurities, but it does do a very good job as a second cleanser (after I have removed my makeup). I still have to use other products to deal with my blackheads and breakouts, but a cleanser that gives radiance and doesn’t irritate my skin is still a win in my book.

Will I repurchase this?

I have a fairly large stash of cleansers to test and go through, so I am not repurchasing this yet. I have found that this cleanser goes a long way – the pea sized amount pictured above tends to be enough. Even so, it is a rather expensive product. But it’s definitely one of the better cleansers I have used (this is especially evident when I am testing so many less than impressive cleansers in a short amount of time). So I am thinking I may get a full size one I’m through my ungodly hoard of unopened skin care products.
