I love talking about wardrobe staples. The ones which get us through style ruts and saves us from the worst trends. Today’s staple is a good one: the camel coat.
I recently got this just fantastic Lauren by Ralph Lauren cashmere coat on sale (after drooling over it for the past 6 months when it was full priced). And I have to share. This is such a fantastic layering piece for spring because it still has warmth for those of us who tend to get a bit overly optimistic about April temperatures in Northern Europe (we need a support group). That way I can still start wearing my lighter pieces without freezing.
And that’s how I styled it here; with a white linen spring dress, bare legs and some mules (which are too high for long walks, by the by). It was sunny but still a bit windy and deceptively chilly. This camel coat saved me. I layered one of my favorite accessories I recently added to my wardrobe, this fantastic oversized chain belt, over the coat to dress it up a bit. Two different vibes.
It’s an absolute must have for the spring (and fall into winter!) season, the lighter color makes it such a versatile piece that I will clutch till its last dying stitch of thread (which will hopefully be many, many years into the future).
