I love the capsule wardrobe concept – it has helped me focus my style and really prioritize the clothing the really works for my lifestyle, while still making me love my outfits. I usually make a new one each season, and a few things tend to carry over season-to-season.

This fall I feel particularly happy with the selection I made. As you can see, I have the usual neutrals – several of these items have featured in many of my previous capsule wardrobes as well. I debated putting in another tan blazer, but I think I can get by with just the black and because that is new into my wardrobe, I want to dedicate more outfits to it anyways.

New for this time around (and it should be fairly easy to spot), is the green. I have previously played with having a few pops of color in my capsule wardrobes, but when I sat down to make this capsule, I realized I could not be happy with it until I included an option for a full on, rich and show stopping monochromatic colorful outfit. One piece would simply not do it. And I am in love, the inclusion of the green knit jumper and the green wool-blend trousers absolutely make this capsule for me. They are both from & Other Stories (this season), and the green checkered coat is from Zara (spring last year, so no longer available unfortunately).

I get the appeal of more “forgettable” neutrals, as this outfit will be more of a statement to repeat, but I am ready for it. The pieces also go great with the rest of the wardrobe (maybe except for paired with the jeans, which is a little bit too much color for me) and can be layered under the outerwear beautifully for various effects. I am excited to try it and see how I get on with it, even if it goes against most typical capsule wardrobe advice!

I will post a video with outfit ideas as well, stay tuned over on my Youtube channel! I will go more in depth on every item as well.

Also – it’s not pictured above (I ran out of space – oops!), but I also keep a couple of pieces of loungewear in my capsule wardrobe. This year, I added this set from H&M, as well as keeping one exactly like it, just in a greige color.

Bottoms

Black tailored trousers https://bit.ly/3UblcTV
These are wool and perfect for layering over thermal leggings, once it starts to really get cold here up north.
Beige tailored trousers https://bit.ly/3SGQ1yB
Green trousers https://bit.ly/3UuvG18
The star of the show. These are a wool blend, which is very convenient for fall, as these are too thin material wise and not as wide and flowy as the previous two, so leggings underneath could make it a bit bulky. I am quite pleased with how well these put some trend into a capsule wardrobe, while still being fairly classic and sophisticated.
Straight jeans https://bit.ly/3SGQe5d
I actually debated putting in any denim at all into this capsule wardrobe. I have them in for now, because they look so great with a black top and black blazer, as well as with a crisp white shirt and a trench coat, but they would probably be the first to go if I had to start making cuts. I am just not feeling very inspired by denim at the moment – it tends to really come and go in my own personal style.
Leather trousers
Another go to for the colder months. Having black items in a different texture really helps breaking up and adding interest to outfits when you have a lot of black items.
Mini skirt
Again in leather. I have actually ordered a satin one that could probably replace this as well and probably work a little bit better with the leather jacket (leather on leather is definitely not an everyday thing for me..). But I really think a bit of contrasting fabric here makes it so much easier to wear with my black knit as well as the black blazer.

Dresses

Only one dress this time. Maybe I will add more if I feel the need. I picked this brown dress from HM that I actually had in last year’s fall capsule wardrobe as well (unfortunately no longer available)

Outerwear

Trench coat https://bit.ly/3rafVPj
A staple for good reason, this works with everything in my capsule and works for pretty much every part of my lifestyle (apart from picking up firewood and carrying that to the shed, I’ll spare this pretty pretty coat from such a fate).
Black blazer https://bit.ly/3rzgDG7
This is a new in piece into my wardrobe, the cult classic from Arket. So because I am so excited about it, I let it be the only blazer in this capsule wardrobe. But I may add a beige one, if I feel the need. But I am a fan of really “wearing in” (mentally, not necessarily to make it physically fit better) my new pieces. It also helps really break any habits of having items hang in your wardrobe with their tags still attached.
Black oversized leather jacket https://bit.ly/3fP1xtb
Another staple, I have had this for 3-ish years now. I just don’t tire of it and it
Green checkered coat – sold out. I wanted to pick a coat with a print that also mirrored the statement color in this capsule. I also love having such a unique coat that can do all the talking for the outfits that are otherwise pure basics.
I am thinking I will add another wool coat as well – either in tan or black. But I am still looking for this piece, so this will be added later (when the temperatures match!).

Accessories & extras

I am probably the most relaxed with my accessories, as far as the capsule wardrobe goes. I will pull anything seasonally appropriate that is accessible in my wardrobe. But I like to include a few key items that I will give a little bit of extra attention and that work well with my chosen pieces.

Silk scarf https://bit.ly/3CGtPiU
This is such a beautiful piece from Arket that could fool you into think it’s designer. It adds interest and print to my outfits (I am currently obsessed with draping it over one side of my blazers), as well as tying around my handbag. Now that my hair is mostly gone, I struggle to use this in my hair in a pretty way, but I would have tied this around a ponytail and it would just look so chic!
Chunky chain necklace https://bit.ly/3cCKqcu
I bought this a few months ago and barely take it off. It is such a fantastic piece if you’re after something to really add a statement to your basics.
Sunglasses
They are pretty much a must for every season, not just summer. Both of these are angular, but the black ones just have so much attitude – I get compliment every time I wear them!
